Client context

NDA task system for a major QSR franchise: admins template tasks; network managers customise and assign; staff complete on mobile with escalation and inventory hooks.

Challenge

PHP WebSocket server bottlenecked under mobile load; legacy sync via Simperium; needed franchise-grade flexibility for templates, shifts and inventory.

What we did

  • Built CodeIgniter ORM and web UI (jQuery) for all entity types.
  • Replaced PHP WebSocket layer with Node.js proxy — fewer DB round-trips, more connections.
  • Migrated sync to in-house WebSocket server; added IAP and template hierarchy.
  • Swift mobile app with realtime task notifications.

Process

  1. Entity model and admin web module.
  2. Socket migration and API hardening.
  3. Mobile sync rewrite and IAP.
  4. Four-month delivery window.

Result and impact

A highly configurable franchise operations hub; task completion improved ~17%, with sustained gains across the network.
