The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is an American not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care in quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and access through the best use of information technology and management systems. One of the tasks of this organization is to provide information about the development of the healthcare industry. We were hired to create several news portals dedicated to each of its subjects:
Health Care IT News - http://www.healthcareitnews.com/
MobiHealthNews - http://www.mobihealthnews.com/
Perhaps you noticed that many of these sites have similarities. This is really so, because we have developed something like a corporate theme for the company HIMSS. The designer of the company adheres to some standards of displaying standard UI elements, and we in turn create a framework of these elements and transfer it to each of the projects to speed up the development and preserve the uniformity on all HIMSS sites.
Besides of standardizing the visual part, we are also involved in standardizing the set of functions for many of these sites. For example, the first two projects have roughly the same structure of content and relations between them. It also allows you to accelerate the development of sites, but more important, it gives editors the same content creation tool and thereby shortens the learning curve of the company's staff.
In other words, these projects are a prime example of IT, which speeds up production rather then slows it down.
In addition, we would like to mention the project HIMSS Conference. This is the main event for the organization of HIMSS and for several years we have been developing this site, which helps in organizing this event. What we did:
- Build Single Sign ON that is used for all HIMSS Media websites.
- Build web services for mobile application.
- Build synchronization with 3rd party service to retrieve Events.
- Build synchronization with other 3rd party service to retrieve Exhibitors.
- Build complicated search pages with Apache Solr.
- Build clever admin pages for editorials
During the week, this site is actively visited by about 50 thousand people. In 2017, during the conference, there was found only one bug concerning to the visual part of the project. We call it the quality standard of our work.
